Information Manipulation over Object Manipulation
August 1, 2007 |
Chances are very good that if you are here reading this post, you have two three things in common with the other people who read it.
- You are into some form of object manipulation
- You use the internet
- You are not wearing any underwear
Ok, maybe the last one is just a wild guess, but if you said yes to the first two then read on.
There has been an explosion in the number of blogs on the internet, and by extension there are many manipulation blogs that did not exist that now do. As well as providing wonderful original content, they can also act as a sort of filter. Someone else can look through a dozen average videos, and then give you a link to the good one. So in that sense it is not simply a case of more information, it is also better organized information.
The first thing I wanted to do in this post was to link a few of my current favorites:
- The Ministry of Manipulation is amongst other things, a wonderful manipulation and dance video blog.
- Playpoi The blog of Nick Woolsey, underground cult poi celebrity.
- MCP has a Spinning Video Blog at Uberevernts.
- hooping.org is a very prolific hooping blog
- FireGrace What happens when a gold medalist baton twirler takes up fire twirling, yoga, tai chi, and meditation?
- Brer Licky Focuses more on the throwing and catching kind of juggling, with some random stuff too.
Once you realize that there are many many more you may start to wonder how to keep track of them all.
Enter RSS, and the second part of this post. You may already have noticed this symbol
popping up all over the web. What is RSS has a good quick explanation. Every single one of the sites above has a ‘feed’ that you can consume with a feedreader. There are many you can use and most email programs, rather online or desktop, now have one built in somewhere.
My favorite is Netvibes which is free, good and online (so you can have all your feeds on any computer). If you really want to go ninja, grab this Firefox plugin and then every time you click on a feed symbol it will be automatically added to your netvibes.
Are there any other Manipulation related blogs that you know and love? If there are I can add them to the list.

great article.
Yes I am wearing underwear.
Cheers! Glad you liked it. The MoM Blog definitely made top of the list.
But so far feedback has been roughly 50/50.
In terms of who is wearing underwear I mean. It’s very odd to have a few emails in the inbox about underwear without any of them being spam…
Strange. I like it.
You got me all 3points correct…
look forward to see you back soon!
